This year, like so many others, had many ups and downs. Overall, I think most of us would agree, it was a good year. Now that we have completed two years on the trimester, it seems like we have had the schedule forever--we are PROS! This year also brought in a change in students' backpacks--they got a little lighter (in theory) with the removal of textbooks and the addition of netbooks. This was also a trial year for our new cell phone policy -- the results? A 25% decrease in violations.
In addition, we achieved many things... an Excellent Rating, TWO National Merit Finalists, a place at state in both Band & Choir, and the list could go on and on!
As always, THANKS to each of you for the work you do. You are not told often enough that you are doing a good job... so here it is... YOU ARE DOING A GOOD JOB!
Next year will bring many changes just like any other year, but with the mandates and proposed changes coming from the state as well as a new Superintendent, there are certainly many challenges ahead. Take some time to reflect on your own practice this summer and how you fit as a piece in this puzzle. We must continue to develop and work as a team as we move forward into the future. We must lean on one another and look to each other for guidance and support as we go through this time of change.
Unlike recent years, we will see few changes in our staffing for next year. We will say good-bye to two of our co-workers:
Jon Clouse will be retiring. Congrats, Jon, and Good Luck in your future endeavors.
Carly Riepenhoff will be leaving CHS to be with her fiance in Texas. Good Luck Carly!
Next year, we will have at least one new face...
Michelle Voress will be the new Sports Physiology teacher. Michelle worked for Joint Township District Memorial Hospital as an athletic trainer and was our trainer for this past school year. She has a teaching license and will be doing some training along with her teaching duties.
Stay tuned for more updates!
This summer, like last year, I will be updating the staff blog with a 'summer updates' post on the 10th & 25th of every month. Any changes or updates will be announced here -- try to stay in touch! All Opening Day information will be posted on the staff blog also -- no snail mail announcement will be made regarding high school information!
Thanks again for a great year!
